Nissan 7:29 'ring Video Surfaces

June 14th, 2008 by John

Nissan of Europe claimed in early May that the newest GT-R ran the famed Nürburgring in 7:29, 9 seconds faster than it's previous 7:38, but internet gearheads weren't completely convinced. Did Nissan actually beat the megabucks Carrera GT in one lap of the world's most challenging race course? The proof is in the video, taken from a Nissan press event by an attendee. In the cockpit is Nissan's Tochio Suzuki, pushing the GT-R to it's limits. Enjoy.

Fast and the Furious 4 info out

June 15th, 2008 by John

"For fans of The Fast and the Furious franchise, there were still a few pretty big questions hanging over the movie. Mainly, just what exactly was this movie going to be about ... other than fast cars that look real cool when they go real fast? Well, wonder no longer because Universal has announced the official title and the final plot synopsis for the latest installment of the racing franchise. Now titled Fast and Furious (yo, they left out the 'the!'), the story centers on reuniting Dom Torretto (Vin Diesel) and agent Brian O'Connor (Paul Walker) along with vets from the first film (Jordana Brewster and Michelle Rodriguez). According to Universal's description, "When a crime brings them back to L.A., fugitive ex-con Dom Toretto (Diesel) reignites his feud with agent Brian O'Conner (Walker). But as they are forced to confront a shared enemy, Dom and Brian must give in to an uncertain new trust if they hope to outmanuever him."-Courtesy of Cinematical

600bhp Supercharged Challenger by Speedfactory

June 15th, 2008 by John

"Whenever a new performance vehicle makes it into the hands of eager customers, a run to the dyno never seems to be far behind. This has again proven to be the case with the new Dodge Challenger, as a company known as Speedfactory has just done the deed on its new steed. What sets this particular vehicle and its dyno numbers apart from other SRT8s, though, is its Vortech supercharger. Considering that the 6.1 liter HEMI V8 under the Challenger's long, scooped hood is the same one available these last few years in other SRT-branded eight-cylinder vehicles, we're not too surprised to see that the system is pretty mature and posts rather good horsepower and torque numbers right out of the gate. Coming in at about 495 horses at the rear tires, Speedfactory surmises that its Challenger is making around six hundred ponies at the crank. If owners of the GT500 weren't concerned with the Challenger's performance numbers before, perhaps the addition of a supercharger to the HEMI will bring it more in line with the numbers coming from the Shelby's force-fed mill. Folks, it's muscle car time again, let the games begin!"-Courtesy of Autoblog.com

You Should Care: Honda Rolls Out FCX Clarity

June 16th, 2008 by Nick

While we're normally reserve the frontpage for performance vehicles, the most important car of the decade may the the little Honda you see above. Called the FCX, it's the world's first in-production Hydrogen Fuel Cell (HFC) vehicle. Emitting just water, the FCX uses it's HFC magic to generate an electric current and scoot around town. While it may be expensive ($600 a month), and limited in range due to a lack of refueling stations, this may be one first steps in reaching energy independence. Honda is limiting the production run to just 200 a year (with the first five going straight into the garages of the rich and famous). Jump over to the BBC to check out the scoop on the opening of the Honda's FCX production line.

June 17th, 2008 by John

There's not much one can say about the following advertisement from Lamborghini: two Gallardo LP-560s, drifter Sam Hubinette, and wet Los Angeles roads caught in black and white. While some of the features are all to obvious ("Phone Number Collecting Set", "Get Into All Clubs Function"), it's still a good watch.
